American Legion National Commander Fang A. Wong is calling on Congress to
pass a new version of the Stolen Valor Act, one that would stand up to
constitutional scrutiny. The U.S. Supreme Court issued a “plurality”
ruling Thursday morning, a 6-3 decision that protects those who lie about
their military experiences, including those who falsely claim to have
received combat wounds and medals, in order to advance their careers.

Hope you all had a memorable Memorial Day.
I enjoyed an excellent Memorial Day service at the New Trinity Cemetery in
Haltom City. Post 655 brought together a team including Mayor Hutchinson,
Police Chaplain Hamlin, Richland High School JROTC, Boy Scouts, Cemetery
Board and more. Over 300 flags marked known veterans’ graves including
three dating back to the Civil War. About 100 Veterans and friends
attended the impressive service. Pictures in the scrapbook and here

I also made it to LaureLand and Mount Olivet that both had great

5/26/12 - Memorial Day

Reminder for Memorial Day this Monday: (event information attached)

Fly the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon – and fly the POW - MIA flag.
And, at 3 o’clock this Monday afternoon – pause – for the "National Moment
of Remembrance.”

Please indulge me as I repost a short Memorial Day message that is not
selling something, partisan or in my opinion controversial.

Memorial Day, Truly Remembered
Posted by on May 25, 2012
Hello, from your Congressman, Michael Burgess.

One thousand soldiers of the Third U.S. Infantry’s “Old Guard” carefully
placed small American flags on a quarter-million graves at Arlington
Cemetery
yesterday – on Thursday, before Memorial Day.

Memorial Day - originally called “Decoration Day” - is our opportunity for
a day of remembrance of those who died while defending our Nation and its
values. Each of us has the opportunity to make Memorial Day mean much more
than just another of the three-day federal holidays:
Fly the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon – and fly the POW - MIA flag.
And, at 3 o’clock this Monday afternoon – pause – for the "National Moment
of Remembrance.”

Hopefully in your community, flags will decorate the graves.
And perhaps we will observe “Decoration Day” as it began in May of 1868:
To renew the pledge to aid and assist those disabled veterans – the widow
– and the orphan. As the Civil War general said, “They are left among us -
as sacred charges upon the Nation's gratitude.”

Please set aside this one day out of the year as the Nation gathers – to
remember – reflect – and honor – those who have given everything in
service to Country.
It only takes a few moments to keep the memory of Memorial Day alive for
your children – to honor the sacrifice of past generations.
Thank you for taking the time to remember Memorial Day.

May God bless you and your family. May God bless those who sacrifice for
our Country – and as always, may God bless Texas.

5/23/12 - Memorial Day and events

Monday is Memorial Day. A wonderful time to take a young person to an
event (any event), and explain why we honor the people that made the
ultimate sacrifice so we can keep the freedoms guaranteed by our
constitution.

Subject: Ads for the Department Program
The Department Convention is only 2 & ½ months away and the deadline for
ads for the department program is only a little over a month away.
We have received many promises of ads but not a lot of actual subscribers.
We appreciate those of you who have sent in ads, but the rest of the gang
needs to get it going if we are to have a great program. By the way the
proceeds from the program help defray convention costs, especially the
Commander’s and President’s reception.

Please get those ads in. Attached is the ad application form for your
use. As always if you have questions, please give me a call at
281-433-2741.

Thanking you for all your efforts.

---
May 7 - Commanders Call at Everman Post 639 (7PM)
--
May 12 - Division 1 Convention at South Fort Worth Post 569
(see information attachments for the Legion and Auxiliary)
And for the Riders:
There will be a riders meeting at the convention and at this time will
discuss, briefly, the fallen riders fund project. We have discussed,
cussed and beat on it long enough. It is time to go forward. I suggest
that each post that has a rider group in the 1st Division send a
representative as a vote will be taken with members present on this
program.
The following is a brief agenda for the meeting:
Call meeting to order.
Prayer and a moment of dedication to those whom we have lost over the year.
A few moments for the 1st Division Commander.
Discuss and finalize the fallen riders fund issue.
Briefly discuss where the riders are and where we are going.
Open discussion with riders in the meeting. Your ideas, thoughts and
announcements.
Close the meeting.
Hope to see you there.

1st Division Advisor.

Subject: Redistricting is now on website

Success! The proposed plan for redistricting is now on the website as of
this morning. It consists of a table showing sq mileage for each district,
veterans by counties, number of Posts, and goals for districts, then maps
for each of the districts, and dots showing the location of Posts, and a
summary of each of the 4 metropolitan areas.

Nowhere does it show the Posts which will be additions to a particluar
district or the Posts being removed from the District. Therefore, a
District Commander will have to figure out on his/her own the suggested
changes in their district. Surely the Committee has addressed the issue
and that information is available somewhere. Why can this not be supplied
now also? This is the season for all of the District meetings for such
consideration. My District did not even know that my Post would be in the
3rd District.

Do the Legion leaders really want this to happen? If so, there has been no
attempt to sell this idea to the general mambership, or the Division,
Districts or Posts, that I can find. All of us can remember the last
several attempts which have failed to be passed because of lack of
understanding by the members. What makes this redistricting unique? Why
don't we tell the story so it become important to the members of the
Posts, and they are willing for their representatives to take action?

My Post would change from the 6th District to the 3rd District. Would it
also move to the First Division? What about your Posts? Do you think it
makes sense?

The use of the website for this kind of communication sure makes sense and
will give the mebers a chance to feel included.

It has just been brought to my attention that Debra Brooks will not be
able to take the 12th District Commander position next year due to family
problems. It has been a pleasure to work with Debra as my Vice Commander
this past year and I wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Now, we need someone to step up and run for the 12th District Commander in

qualified candidate to work for us.

Get back with me as soon as you can with suggestions.

*Subject:* Post 21 Request for help...

Hello Linda and Dick,
On behalf of Post 21 I am requesting that this email be forwarded to all
American Legion Posts in the 1st Division and the 4th District.

Legionnaires:
American Legion, Holley-Riddle Post 21, The Colony, TX has raised enough
money to send 18 High School Juniors to Texas Boys State 2012. *However*,
we still have 5 highly qualified young men on a “waiting list” as we try to
raise additional funds. We have tapped out our local resources and are
needing help from surrounding posts. We called Michael Simon this morning
to see if we could get help from the Department. His suggestion was that
we contact the other Posts in our Division and District and request help
from them. Therefore this email.

Our hope is that there are some Posts that have the funds set aside for
Boys State and will not be using them this year or perhaps there are Posts
that do not have a Boys State Program that would like to become involved
with this fine program and have the credit to report on their Consolidated
Post Report. If your Post sponsors a participant your Post will receive
the credit to report on your CPR.

While reporting numbers on the CPR always makes us look good…that is not
our driving motivation. Boys State provides a character-building and
educational experience that participants will remember and benefit from for
a lifetime. When they return they will be well equipped to take a more
active role in student government now, thru college and finally become
highly productive citizens in their community. This is an opportunity to
make a positive difference in a young person’s life.

Our total cost per participant is $400…this includes tuition,
transportation, and spending money.

Your check, earmarked as “Texas Boys State 2012” can be mailed to:
American Legion Post 21
P.O. Box 560997
The Colony, TX 75056

On behalf of all the members of Post 21 we thank you for your consideration
and participation.

3/13/12 - District 12 Riders Down - update

Update on Bill and Jay
---------

From: "Darrell"

Hello all,
I just got off the phone with the riders. They are still in the hosp. Bill
is almost ready to be released, but they are waiting for Jay to regain some
strength. The worst injury was suffered by Jay, he had some broken bones
but is doing better. From what I gather, an SUV ran Bill off the road, he
hit the ditch, Jay went down trying to avoid it all. The car didn't stop
of course. Bill's bike will probably be a total loss. WE can all thank god
that it wasn't worse. Keep them in your prayers. They are not sure when
they'll be coming back to Ft Worth.

March 15 is the designated birthday of The American Legion. On that date

Expeditionary Force, convened in Paris. Much as the birthday of the United

My Legion Riders -
I was informed by Mr. Mike Lambert, Patriot Guard, that Jesse Duckworth,
aka Sir Duck, has passed away. Services are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on
Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport
Frwy, Irving, Tx. After the services, the Patriot Guard will be providing
escort to DFW National Cemetery for burial.
I am asking any and all American Legion Riders, who are available, to
assist the Patriot Guard, to honor a fellow veteran who served this great
Nation. Please forget everthing else.
Per Mr. Lambert, the flag line will be forming at the funeral home at
approximately 8:30 a.m. and again at the National Cemetery.
Again, if you are available, please help honor this veteran.
Thanking you in advance

I have secured Tarrant County based Renfro Foods of Fort Worth to be a

I have a request in to Frost Bank for financial assistance.
Humperdinks of Arlington will be donating a gift card to be given away.
I did not hear back from you about making this a district-wide event, so I
took it on myself
to make SOMETHING happen. I hope as we progress theough this calendar year
that we can do a few
things in our community to garner the AL a little recognition. We would
also sign up new members
at this time, should any approach and inquire about our programs.
We would love to have you and yours in attendance...no RSVP necessary.

Past 1st Division Commander Sonny Starr went in for his post CVA testing
today and this is a short synopsis of what is going on at present.
1. Sonny still has some residual swelling on his brain from the stroke.
2. Right carotid is almost totally blocked and will require an
endarterectomy in a week or two to oepn it up.
3. An artery in his left arm is blocked and will require stenting.
4. Sonny will be limited in activity for a while and will require lots of
rest after any activities.
5. Kelley advises he came through procedures ok.
6. Sonny will be able to go back to work for only a few hours a day with
no physical activity on Monday.
7. The Doctors want Sonny to rest frequently and not overdo.

2/17/12 - Sonny update, schedule changes, R2R and more

Update on Sonny:
Sonny is home from the hospital. He is doing well and is in good spirits
and is positive about the surgery to repair the blockage. He has blockages
in both carotid arteries, one of which caused the stroke. He will be
having a angiogram done on the 24th. Surgery will be needed as the
blockage is too close to the artery branch to put stents in according to
the vascular surgeon. He will be on aspirin therapy as well. His also has
a working phone now. We want to thank you all for your prayers.

Thank you

Again Ride 2 Recovery is approaching. Like last year, the Riders who will
be attending the ride from San Antonio to Arlington are asking for our
fellow Legionnaires assistance in raising money to purchase American
Legion "Thank You" coins.

Last year our Riders presented these coins to fellow veterans who were
members of the Ride as well as other veterans at the Waco VA hospital and
other veterans in Ft. Hood, Cleburne and other stops along the route. The
impact these coins had on those who received them far exceeded what any of
our Riders present could imagine. One thing for sure that we all agreed
upon was the positive image of the American Legion Family that these coins
had. It also showed that "WE" cared for our veterans.

Your help is again needed to purchase more "Thank You" coins for this
year's Ride 2 Recovery. Costs for the coins is approximately $2.00 each
with shipping. If you would like to help with the cause you can send your
cash, check or money order to: American Legion Riders Post 655, 2817
Carson St
, Haltom City, TX 76117
. Please make payment payable to: American
Legion Riders Post 655. If you send a check or money order please indicate
in the memo section: Thank You coins.

Everyone who donates will receive a letter from the Riders of 655
acknowledging their donation.

Some info passed on to me from Herman Yentz of Post 453.

Texas motorists will now have the ability to make a contribution through
their vehicle registration form to support the Texas Veterans Commission's
Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA). Since the first FVA grants were made
in 2010, TVC has awarded over $18.5 million in grants to 69 local
government and non-profit organizations. In fiscal year 2011, FVA grants
helped to serve 65,700 Veterans and their family members. Services include
emergency financial assistance, transportation services, counseling for
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury, housing
assistance, family and child services, Veterans Courts and legal services.

Under the legislation, someone wishing to donate an amount – be it $1 or
$1000 – may insert the amount in the “fee box” at the bottom right hand
corner of vehicle registration renewal notices. Customers would then add
that amount to whatever their vehicle registration fee would be. The DMV
will then send the donation to the FVA to directly support Veteran
services.

If you are planning on going to San Antonio in April to support this
year's R2R or will be joining the R2R along the way and would like to stay
in the same hotel as the R2R participants and staff, please send me your
name, where you will need hotels, if from San Antonio back to Arlington,
just indicate "ALL" and how many rooms you need. At this time we do not
know which hotels that will be used or the cost per night BUT we are
suppose to get the same discount rates as the R2R folks.

R2R this year is scheduled for April 16-21. Those going to San Antonio
will be leaving here (DFW area) on Sat the 14th or Sun the 15th. More info
will be coming and there will be meetings scheduled between now and then
to put things together.

Please let me know soon as possible if you want to be included when we
make these reservations. I'll let everyone know the costs for each hotel
as well as the name and location of the hotel.

Commander,

I sent an email to your personal email address yesterday the 25th. Here
is the situation. Eugene Morris Boyd was an Army veteran and I personally
viewed his 214. His family call my post (569) to ask for assistance.
Long story short, Mr.. Boyd has passed and the family is in need of
assistance to bury him. The arrangements are with Guardian Funeral Home
(5704 James Ave, Fort Worth). Their phone number is 817-293-8477. The
outstanding balance is 3121.00. My post has pledged $550 so far and I am
awaiting to hear from the SAL. We will be taking the checks directly to
the funeral home. I am asking to see if any of the other post in the 12th
District can contribute any funds. Any contribution will be greatly
appreciated. The family needs the money ASAP. Guardian's offices are not
open on Saturdays so the money needs to be in on Friday. Guardian is part
of the Greenwood family and funds can be taken there Saturday but it gets
complicated if taken there.
I validated the situation and am asking for the Districts help. POC for
the Boyd family is Shannon at 408-839-1534.

Thank you for any and all your support,

Joseph Rangel

we had on us including my cell phone, credit cards were all stolen,
quite honestly it was beyond a dreadful experience for us but looking on
the bright side we weren't seriously hurt or injured and we are still
alive so that is whats important. I've reported to the cops here and
canceled all our cards, it appeared I had acted quickly enough or they
almost would have succeeded in cleaning out my bank account. I'm really
having some difficulties clearing our hotel bills and also need to pick

Veteran designation on Drivers License if requested:

House Bill 1514 House Author: Isaac et al.
Effective: 9-1-11 Senate Sponsor: Birdwell

House Bill 1514 amends the Transportation Code to require the Department
of Public Safety to include the designation "VETERAN" on a driver's
license issued to a person who has served in and been honorably discharged
from the United States armed forces or the Texas National Guard if the
person requests the designation and provides proof of that military
service and honorable discharge. The bill requires the application for an
original driver's license to provide space for an applicant to voluntarily
list any military service qualifying the applicant to receive a license
with a veteran's designation and to include proof of the applicant's
eligibility to receive a license with such a designation.
All that is needed is the Veteran show a copy of their DD Form 214 when
renewing their DL. There is no additional cost for this feature, except
the cost of renewing or replacing a DL or ID.

American Legion Teams with the Dallas Stars for Veterans Event

The 5th District has been working with the Dallas Stars hockey club to
assist the Legion Family in recruiting new members. They are providing The
American Legion with Group Rates for a game between the Dallas Stars and
the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 7:00 PM. This also
happens to be Veterans Night for the Dallas Stars, so there will be many
veterans and their wives/husbands and children attending. This will an
excellent opportunity to recruit members into the Legion Families across
the DFW metroplex and surrounding areas. If 100 tickets are purchased
(make that 98 since I have purchased mine) by March 10, the Dallas Stars
will provide the American Legion a table inside the American Airlines
Center for the purpose of recruiting members.

Go to www.dallasstars.com/americanlegion and use the promo code "*stars*"
to start your purchase. A person can purchase up to 9 tickets and is open
to your friends and family as well. *Just ensure they use the link above
and the promo code or the American Legion will not get credit for the
purchase.* You will also need to register with the Stars during the
purchase process. Ticket prices will be $15 or $45 depending on where you
want to sit. The $15 seats are in the sections 301-334 (nosebleed). The
$45 seats are in the lower bowl in sections 101-105, 109-116 and 120-124.
See seating chart at http://stars.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=39237. Remember,
the earlier you purchase, the better your seats will be.

A flyer provided by the Dallas Stars is attached for your use to spread the
word.

Gary Smith

12/15/11 - Happy Holidays

Hey Troops,
In case you missed it the 12th District Christmas party was a great
success. Again thanks to post 626 for their hospitality and wonderful
food. I personally want to wish everyone and their families a very merry
Christmas and happy new year from the 12th District. You have made my
tenure as Commander a pleasure and it has been an honor to serve you all.
As we all celebrate this season please keep in mind those who are in harms
way and all the veterans that we all swear to support and help. I know
that my home post is serving a meal to those that have no where to spend
the day and I only hope that some of you are doing something like this to
support our veterans. With that please have a safe and merry holiday
season.
Al Robart
12th District Commander
---
From your Hubmaster,
A few things to pass on in addition to wishing all a Merry Christmas:

This Sunday, Dec 18, Big Texas Toy Run http://www.thebigtexastoyrun.com/
---
CNN coverage on 12/10/11 (this story ran every hour all day I believe)
Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery with folks unloading
a truck with boxes of wreaths – the first person on the ground at the back
of the truck taking boxes is wearing a district level American Legion
cover and facing so the emblem is facing the camera. Seldom seen, much
needed.
---
We made the Texas Legion Times again – did no one else do anything for
Veterans Day?

---
Check out the new AMRR page – awesome (note also attached).
You will also need to sign up again if you want notices because of the
rebuild.

With campaign season upon us and the Troops coming home lets not loose
sight of our mission to recognize their individual worth and sacrifice not
just their political value.
The following events in our area are very good ways to let folks know who
we are and why, all we have to do is participate.

THANKS BUTCH...

For your information. I checked this out and it appears to work.

Current Information Regarding DD-214's

Please pass on to other vets.
It's official: DD-214 discharge papers are
NOW ONLINE. The
National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) has
provided the following website for veterans to gain access to
their DD-214s online:

http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/

This may be particularly helpful when a veteran needs a copy
of his/her DD-214 for employment purposes. NPRC is working
to make it easier for veterans with computers and Internet
access to obtain copies of documents from their military files.

Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased former military
members may now use a new online military personnel records
system to request documents.

Other individuals with a need for documents must still complete
the Standard Form 180, which can be downloaded from the
online web site. Because the requester will be asked to supply
all information essential for NPRC to process the request,
delays that normally occur when NPRC has to ask veterans
for additional information will be minimized. The new web-based
application was designed to provide better service on these
requests by eliminating the records centers mailroom and
processing time.

Please pass this information on to former military personnel you may
know and their dependents.

Department Baseball Chairmen,

Greetings - With the ever increasing use of the internet and the tough
economic times, especially at Christmas, the Scammers are out in full
force. It has been brought to our attention that there is an
individual(s) out of Punta Gorda, FL soliciting funds to sponsor an
American Legion elite/all-star baseball team to travel to France and play.
They promise gift cards in exchange for donations. We do not endorse nor
have we authorized such an arrangement. It is unfortunate that scammers
have invaded the tradition-rich program that veterans such as yourself
have built. I would ask that you notify your posts, team managers, and
any others of this scam. I would suggest that you stay vigilant during
this time year against possible scams and pass the word. If you have any
questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

I hope you and your families have a blessed holiday season.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Legion scolds supercommittee
National commander “profoundly disappointed” by impasse, concerned about
national security consequences.
WASHINGTON (November 21, 2011) -- American Legion National Commander Fang
A. Wong says he is “profoundly disappointed” that the bipartisan Joint
Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (the so-called “supercommittee)
failed to reach an agreement to cut $1.2 trillion from the federal budget
over the next decade.
“They were given an important job to do, and they failed,” Wong said.
“What this means to the future of our military and our veterans remains to
be seen, but the challenges have now intensified for those who believe in
a strong national defense and want to protect the hard-earned benefits of
veterans. We are profoundly disappointed in the work of this committee.”
The failure to reach an agreement triggers $1.2 trillion in budget cuts
set to take effect in January 2013. Among the reductions is an automatic
$492 billion in defense spending.
In a letter to the ranking Republican member of the Senate Armed Services
Committee, John McCain, R-Ariz., Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said
the automatic cuts would roll back ground forces to pre-World War II
levels, leave the Navy with a fleet the size of the one in the years
before World War I, and reduce the Air Force to its smallest size ever.
“That may be the worst-case scenario, but it could certainly occur unless
these automatic cuts are rolled back between now and 2013,” Wong said.
“There is still time to avoid Panetta’s nightmare, but we need to use it
wisely in pressuring our lawmakers to make sure the Department of Defense
has adequate funding to do its vital job.”
The deadlock also triggers another $492 billion in federal cuts starting
in 2013 from health, education, drug enforcement, national parks,
agriculture programs and social programs.
“Even if VA is OK, that doesn’t mean all veterans’ support programs are
necessarily protected, because not all of them are administered by the
Department of Veterans Affairs,” American Legion Legislative Division
Deputy Director Ian de Planque explained. In recent remarks to the House
Committee on Veterans Affairs, de Planque noted the vulnerability of
veterans’ jobs and homeless programs within the Departments of Labor and
Housing and Urban Development.
“That,” said Tim Tetz, director of the Legion’s Legislative Division, “is
another good reason to keep up strong post-supercommittee pressure on
Congress. Restricting Labor and Housing and Urban Development efforts on
behalf of veterans could really damage VA Secretary (Eric) Shinseki’s
efforts to end homelessness among veterans, and even the president’s work
to curtail veteran joblessness.”
“Because the supercommittee failed to do its job,” Wong said, “it is
critically important for us to do ours as advocates. It is vitally
important to the future of our nation that Congress does what it must to
protect the safety of our nation and the rights of our veterans.”

On November 9th FEMA, DHS and FCC will conduct the first national test of
the Nationwide Emergency Alert System test. This test will kick off at
1:00 p.m. (CST). The test will be nationwide, running concurrently across
all time zones.

This system test is the first of its kind. It is designed to broadcast a
nationwide message to the American public. Nothing like it has been
conducted in the history of the country. There have been tests in the past
but none to all parts of the Nation at the same time. The test will run
concurrently on all radio and TV band and the message will run for three
minutes. Most messages in the past were anywhere from 30 secondsto 1
minute.

There is great concern in local police and emergency management circles
about undue public anxiety over this test. The test message on TV might
not indicate that it is just a test. Fear is that the lack of an
explanation message might create panic. Please share this information with
your family and friends so they are aware of the test.

With Veterans Day approaching, LegacyTexas Bank is making it easy for
people in the local community who want to express their gratitude and
support for military personnel to do so in a very personal way. Through
November 12th, the local community bank is setting up collection boxes at
all 19 LegacyTexas Bank locations and encouraging area residents to bring
by items for care-packages that will be sent to troops who have been
deployed from Texas military bases. The effort is all part of A Lone Star
Salute, the banks Veterans Day initiative focused on celebrating freedom
and honoring those who defend it. (flyer attached)

Sat, 22 Oct 2011
Gentlemen, please pass this on to everyone. Concerning the PUFL program,
it has come to my attention that all checks written for the PUFL dues
should be made out as follows:
The American Legion, Dept. of Texas.

There are no exceptions. Department Headquarters has already sent back 3
checks for this reason. Please ensure that all members within your
Squadron, District or Division are aware of this mandate. Thank you.

Troops, We can keep going for 2011 and 2012. Good work to all and lets
keep it up.

Date: Mon, 24 Oct 2011

Hi District Commanders,
I just checked our membership stats for the period ending last week and we
are pretty good, being at 64.99% We should make our 65% goal for 28 Oct
pretty easily. If we work hard we will make all of our target dates and it
would be great to be near the 90% mark by the end of the year as
membership seems to slow down somewhat at the start of the new year. Don't
forget about National Commander Fang Wong's "Christmas Bonus" program.
I wish to congratulate Glen Moody (9) for making it back into the # 1 slot
(65.55%) and for Johnnie Washburn (21) For keeping the running tight
(64.17%). My kudos also go to the next four commanders who are over 60%;
William Moore (10) (63.90%); Bryan Coleman (8) (63.27%); Fred Vasquez (20)
(62.42%) and Walt Myers (14) (61.21%). The next eight districts are over
55% (17, 5, 4, 2, 23, 22, 12 and 7. I know you all are working very hard
to make your target dates and I am thankful for your efforts. We went from
46 to 45, nationally, and I'm looking forward to THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS
doing well this year.
I wish to thank all the districts and posts, that I have visited this
year, for the great hospitality and friendliness I have been shown this
year. I'll be in the Houston area 3-10 November, assisting the team from
National with a couple post revitalizations (8th & 22nd) and possibly
forming a new post in the Spring Branch area. I'm looking forward to
working with you folks "down south." If time permits, I'll try and stop by
the 22nd District Convention on Sat., 5 Nov. 11 Nov will see Alice &
myself in Mineral Wells on Veterans Day and in Odessa on Saturday,
returning to Anna on Sunday.
Hey if the Rangers win the World Series, we'll knock it out of the park,
come the end of the membership year.

Subject: We Won - VA agrees "not to ban God or Jesus from Military Funerals.
Date: Monday, October 24, 2011
Ken,
Please get this out to all posts. Troops a great example of what our voice
can do. Maybe a great tool to use as an example in recruiting new members.
Thanks AL

We won!!!!

VA agrees "not to ban, regulate or otherwise interfere with prayers,
recitations, or words of religious expression absent family objection" and
to let veterans' families hold services with any religious or secular
content they desire.

VA also agrees not to edit or control private religious speech by speakers
at VA-sponsored ceremonies or events and pledges to return a Bible, cross
and Star of David to the cemetery's chapel, which must remain open and not
be used for storage or referred to as a "meeting facility."
http://www.chron.com/default/article/Judge-signs-off-on-Houston-National-Cemetery-2227165.php

We had almost 26,000 people join our Facebook Cause: Stop the Department
of Veterans Affairs (VA) from banning the Word 'God' from Military
Funerals

We will continue to recruit to our Facebook Cause for the next American
military issue.

Now lets get the director of the Houston VA National Cemetery, Arleen
Ocasio fired from her post.
