Saturday, April 8, 2017

The North Texas World War I Centennial Commemoration Group presented a commemoration of the U.S. entry into the First World War and how that event affected North Texas. The event was held at Veterans Memorial Park at 4120 Camp Bowie Boulevard, Fort Worth. Living history soldiers were present to give visitors a sense of the time in 1917. Guest speakers Judge Glen Whitley and Councilman Zim Zimmerman presented their insights of the war and proclamations from the County and City. Tarrant County Archivist Dawn Youngblood provided an excellent overview of local historical information.
